DELIVERY TYPES IN INTERNATIONAL TRADE
Incoterms delivery methods are catagorized under 4 groups. There are 11 delivery methods in total. E, F, C and D.
E Group means Ex group and means output. Delivery forms concerning the delivery of the goods start with the letter E.
The important point in F Group delivery methods is that the freight is paid by the importer, not the exporter. All delivery forms concerning this situation begin with the letter F.
Group C delivery methods give the information that the freight is paid by the exporter. All forms of delivery related to the subject begin with the letter C.
Group D means that the destination of the item is focused. Relevant delivery forms begin with the letter D.
The delivery methods used in all types of transportation (land, air, sea, railway) are as follows.
EXW (EX WORKS): Delivery at the exporter's workplace
It is the delivery method that puts the seller (exporter) in the least trouble. It is sufficient for the seller to prepare his product and leave it at his door (warehouse, factory). The rest of the process belongs to the importer. It is entirely the responsibility of the importer to take the goods from the door and transport them with the shipping company and to deal with the customs procedures in both regions.
FCA (FREE CARRIER): Delivery to the carrier
It is a form of delivery that occurs when the exporter delivers the goods from his own door to a jointly determined point with the carrier company or to the carrier's warehouse. Exporter is the main responsible in the process until the goods are received by carrier.
CPT (CARRIAGE PAID TO): Delivery with paid transportation
The exporter is responsible for the preparation of the goods and dealing with freight processes. As soon as the goods arrive at the customs of the receiving country, the responsibility passes to the importer. The importer is obliged to complete the customs procedures and discharge it to the warehouse.
CIP (Carriage and Insurance Paid to): Insurance and Transport paid delivery
The usage method is exactly the same as CPT. In addition, if something happens to the goods in the process until the arrival at customs, the exporter undertakes the insurance coverage.
DDP (DELIVERED DUTY PAID): Duties paid delivery
EXW is the type of delivery used in contrast to the delivery method. The exporter is responsible for preparing the item, handling shipping and customs clearance within both regions. In this case, the importer is only responsible for taking the item from customs.
DAP (DELIVERED AT PLACE): Delivery at designated place
The exporter loads the goods in question, carries out the customs procedures in their country and delivers them to the place agreed with the importer (warehouse, terminal, port, importer warehouse), and then leaves it to the importer to unload. In addition to the unloading process, the customs procedures of the receiving country and the costs that may occur belong to the importer.
DPU (DELIVERED AT PLACE UNLOADED): Delivery evacuated at designated location
When you look at it, the work done is almost the same as the DDP delivery method. The only difference is that the exporter undertakes the unloading of the goods at the customs of the receiving country. The exporter is obliged to personally download the item to the relevant warehouse.
Delivery methods used on the seaway or inland waterway are as follows.
FAS (FREE ALONGSIDE SHIP): Delivery alongside the ship
The exporter prepares the goods, brings it to the port and leaves it alongside the ship. It does not load the ship and takes care of customs procedures. Thus, loading and unloading of the goods to the ship, the cost of transportation and insurance will be borne by the importer.
FOB (FREE ON BOARD): Delivery on board
The FAS delivery method and the procedures are the same, but the only difference is that the cargo left at the port, next to the ship, is placed on the ship as FOB delivery. The remaining process is repeated as in the FAS.
CFR (COST AND FREIGHT): Freight paid delivery
The action we have mentioned in the form of CPT delivery is exactly valid. The only reason it is categorized under the name of CFR is because it is a term used only in maritime transport, a form of delivery.
The exporter is responsible for the preparation of the goods and dealing with freight processes. As soon as the goods arrive at the customs of the receiving country, the responsibility passes to the importer. The importer is obliged to complete the customs procedures and discharge it to the warehouse.
CIF (COST, INSURANCE, FREIGHT): Insurance, costs and freight paid delivery
CFR conditions are exactly valid. The only difference is that
